SPALDING-Howard J. Benzer, 67, Spalding, Township Supervisor for thepast 10 years, died Wednesday, March 28, at 10:45 a.m. at BellinMemorial Hospital in Green Bay, where he had been a patient for fivedays. He had been in ill health for the past six weeks.
Mr. Benzer was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He married theformer Josephine Klekot in 1961 in Waukegon, Ill. A retired technicalservice representative for Inland Steel Co., he is a member of St.Francis Xavier Church in Spalding.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two step daughters, Mrs. Gilbert(Carol) Vandenhouten, Wind Lake, Wis., and Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Grace,Cudahy, Wis.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Kell-Tondin Funeral Chapel in Spalding from 4to 9 p.m. CST Friday. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thefuneral is set for 10 a.m.. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church withRev. Ephraem Sitko officiating. Burial will be in the SpaldingTownship Cemetery.

She was 80.Mrs. Benzer was born on April 21, 1923, in Powers, the daughter ofMartin and Josephine (Florczyk) Klekot, and resided in Chicago,Milwaukee and in Powers for the past 35 years. In 1960, the formerJosephine Klekot married Howard Benzer in Spalding and he preceded herin death on March 28, 1979.
Prior to her marriage to Howard, she was employed as a waitress. Shewas a member of the St. John Neumann Church of Spalding and enjoyedgardening.
Josephine is survived by: a daughter, Carol Vandenhouten of Spalding,two sisters, Helen Seybold of Powers and Betty Griffa of Illinois; andsix grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and twogreatgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband,Howard; a daughter, Helen Grace in 1987; and two grandchildren.
In accordance to her wishes, private services have taken place.Interment was in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
Arrangements were in the care of the Allo Funeral Homes.
